Medical emergency delays Salt Spring sailing

The Queen of Cumberland, sailing between Salt Spring and Swartz Bay, fell behind schedule Friday night due to a medical emergency.

B.C. Ferries reported at 7:20 p.m. Friday that the 7 p.m. sailing between Swartz Bay and Fulford Harbour “is currently holding in dock at Swartz Bay due to a medical emergency which requires immediate attention.”

That ferry is now underway but 43 minutes behind schedule as it resumes its scheduled trip.

“We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of this delay,” said B.C. Ferries in a statement.

“We wish our fellow passenger a speedy recovery.”
