Other activities include a 50-vendor craft and clothing market, a lumberjack show featuring chainsaw carving, interactive sports zone with jump rope competitions and more. There’s also a community stage highlighting family friendly activities including yoga and Science World demos.

Canada Day Parade

Starts at Georgia and Broughton Streets

The popular parade works its way east along Georgia Street before taking a sharp left at Burrard St. and finishing up near Canada Place. Sidewalks will be packed several rows deep with flag-waving spectators lined up to see more than 60 performance groups, from marching Mounties to samba dancers, strut their stuff.

The annual pyrotechnic extravaganza features two separate barges, one anchored in Coal Harbour the other off of Dundarave in West Vancouver. The best views of the show are from Harbour Green Park, along the Coal Harbour Seawall, inside Stanley Park from the rowing club to the 9 o’clock gun and along the Ambleside to Dundarave Seawall in West Vancouver and the Lower Lonsdale area in North Vancouver.

This year's Canada Day Festival will feature our favourite early morning pancakes by Pitt Meadows Lions Club, the official Canada Day Ceremony, cake, local arts and crafts, interactive displays by community groups, hot fogs, entertainment and more! You can also join in the fun with Athletes in Kind for their annual 8K Run and Kids Run, or shoot the puck with the volunteers from Pitt Meadows Community Association during Hockey Day!

Make sure you stake out your spot early along the North Shore Canada Day Parade route. The parade starts at 10 am sharp, and usually last about an hour. As usual there will be lots of colourful floats, cultural groups and lots of goodies for the kids. The parade begins at Grand Boulevard & 13th heading west toward Lonsdale, up Lonsdale to 17th St. and ends at Mahon Park, where you can get an up close look at the floats.

North Shore Fireworks

There will be two simultaneous fireworks shows, one off the shores of West Vancouver and one in the waterway between Canada Place and North Vancouver. The 25-minute spectacular display is viewable from multiple locations along the inlet including, including West Vancouver (Ambleside and Dundarave), North Vancouver, Coal Harbour and Stanley Park. Music for the fireworks will be simulcast on Classic Rock 101.

Richmond

Steveston Salmon Festival

Canada's "biggest little birthday party" kicks off each year with a parade through the streets of the historic Steveston village. A craft show, cultural performances, martial arts demonstrations, a carnival and more than 1,200 pounds of fresh salmon grilled over open fire pits draw an average of more than 70,000 people a year to the festivities. The festival takes place on the second day of Richmond's three-day Ships to Shore event and the arrival of majestic tall ships at nearby Imperial Landing.

Canada Day Concert with The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra

Join the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra for a special Canada Day Concert, as part of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in Whistler program. The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will be in Whistler from July 1 - 5, 2014 to perform full-orchestra outdoor concerts at Whistler Olympic Plaza as well as six chamber concerts in Whistler Village with brass quintets and string quartets.
