Ben Ford liked the house at 3725 West 37th Ave. so much that he bought it. And had it moved to Vancouver Island.
The house, dating from 1915, was moved Thursday through the city to the Fraser River via the Musqueam Indian Band land. It was put on a barge on the river, and was slated to be sent to its new home on Union Bay near Courtney.
The move from its original location to the Fraser started at around 10 a.m. and took between six to eight hours to complete. The house and the move cost Ford approximately $150,000. The project was quite a sight for the neighbours who watched and took photos all along the way.
Nickel Brothers was the moving company.
