Those crazy, site-specific theatre loving kids at ITSAZOO Productions are at it again. This time they're taking over Strathcona's Russian Hall (600 Campbell St.) Aug. 8 to 25 to deliver the pulpy delights of Jez Butterworth's play Mojo. Described as "Waiting for Godot meets Reservoir Dogs," Mojo oozes with blood and coolness and is set in a circa-1958 Soho, London night club filled with rock 'n' rollers, heartthrobs, lowlifes, gangsters, mob bosses and seediness to spare. For tickets and more information, go to itsazoo.org.

Electronic pop duo Rebecca & Fiona play the kind of thumping, sugar-fuelled, synthetic dance club music that makes anyone over 30 feel like a perv for enjoying, but because they're from Sweden there's a whiff of university art project coolness to it that almost makes it OK. See and hear for yourself when R&F headline an "I Heart Boobies" breast cancer awareness fundraiser with a slew of local female DJs including Miss Marz, Rachel Sehl, Blondtron, Rhia Wellbelove and Crystal Adare, at Caprice Night Club, Aug. 9. Admission by donation. More info at blueprintevents.ca.
The beat goes on for British ska band the English Beat, which gained prominence in the late '70s and early '80s with such songs as "Mirror in the Bathroom" and "Save if for Later" before breaking up and splintering into the bands General Public and Fine Young Cannibals. Singer-guitarist Dave Wakeling brings a renovated, some would say unrecognizable, version of the English Beat to the Rickshaw, Aug. 9, 8 p.m. Local ska act Los Furios opens. Tickets at Zulu, Red Cat, Highlife or liveatrickshaw.com.
Making smart, catchy, guitar-based dance music about debauchery-filled nights with models for the past decade, the charming men in Franz Ferdinand slink sophisticatedly into the Commodore for a guilt-free one night stand Aug. 8. We're guessing this one's sold out.
