Singer-songwriter and Eric’s Trip alumna Julie Doiron brings her gently strummed folk and beautifully raw balladry to the Biltmore Sept. 21 as part of the Olio Festival. Expect to hear plenty of songs from her upcoming album So Many Days, which gets released next month. Twin River, Gang Signs and DJ Jonny Was round out the bill. For more info, go to oliofestival.com.
Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre created the Brink Festival to accommodate Asian Canadian acts who missed out on this year’s Fringe Fest. Sketch comedy troupe F.O.B. performs PANCITY, playwright Loretta Seto presents Why Weight? and Seattle’s Leroy Chin showcases his new play Keep on Loving You at Studio 1398 until Sept. 23. The Off Broadway musical based on a 1996 film tells the story of a young woman who is released from prison, gets a waitressing job and learns a thing or two about redemption.
