A conference meant to showcase the ways in which co-operatives can strengthen sustainability runs Friday, Nov. 23 at SFU Woodward's.
The Co-operative City Conference aims to generate strategic partnerships between the co-op sector and the city to advance sustainability in arts and culture, local food systems, affordable housing, green industry and community energy.
Outstanding examples will be showcased in presentations and workshops and with site visits. Speakers include Catherine Clement from the Vancouver Foundation, Peter Couchman of the U.K.-based Plunkett Foundation and Penny Ballem, city manager. 2012 is the UN International Year of Cooperatives.
