Slim Lady Sung: Pop star Jennifer Hudson performed for 400 guests at Vancouver Opera's Overture AIDA Gala held at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. The stunning 30-year-old Jenny Craig spokesperson and songstress headlined the sold-out, invitation-only, $500-a-ticket concert, dinner and auction. Tickets to the 2013 Super Bowl fetched $250,000 while tickets to the Grammy Awards garnered $260,000! The spectacular soiree, which also featured spoken word artist Shayne Koyczan, generated over $1 million for the company's opera in the schools program.

Lowe profile: Hollywood heartthrob Rob Lowe was the keynote at Turning Point Recovery Society's fundraising dinner, where 400 guests gathered at the Four Seasons to hear from the Parks and Recreation star. Promoting his new book, Stories I Only Tell My Friends, the 48-year-old spoke candidly of his alcohol addiction and rehabilitation. Proceeds from the Courier-sponsored affair will support the non-profit's efforts to raise awareness of addiction and help individuals stop using drugs and alcohol in a safe and supportive environment.

Cube squared: Cameron McNeill's MAC Marketing Solutions handed out Golden Cube Awards to some of the city's leading realtors. The second annual red-carpet affair honoured realtors who have sold homes in projects marketed by MAC.
