YEW-hoo!: For the second year in a row, Yew restaurant and bar at the Four Seasons Hotel under the direction of Chef Ned Bell was declared Variety: the Children's Charity's Food Fight champ. More than 200 guests were on hand to sample delicious offerings from six restaurants in the third Battle for Brunch benefit hosted by the Terminal City Club.

All aboard: The sun peaked out just in time to see several hundred passengers set sail on board the M.V. Harbour Princess for Les Clefs d'Or's inaugural Charity Boat Cruise. Bob Lindsay's Lift Bar and Grill and Monk McQueen's provided sufficient "fuel" for revellers who embarked on the three-hour tour of the inner harbour and False Creek. Proceeds from the May Day excursion benefited the foundation's efforts to aid individuals within the hospitality community who are coping with extraordinary costs arising from a serious health crisis.

Heroes feted: Yours truly along with Global's Sophie Lui coemceed the B.C. Positive Living Society's bi-annual AccolAIDS Awards Gala sponsored by the Courier. Downtown Eastside pharmacist Alex Tam, entertainer and philanthropist Joan-E, former BCPWA Chair Glyn Townson and the late Dr. Peter Jepson Young were among those honoured at the Vancouver Convention Centre for their efforts in the HIV/AIDS movement.
