Yes, it's Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson

Great news for fans of star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson: You can now celebrate the official “The Rock” Day in Vancouver.

The bad news is… it happened yesterday. Specifically, Thursday, October 19.

Mayor Gregor Robertson tweeted the news on Friday, October 20:

As we know, Johnson is a big fan of Vancouver, having declared his love for the city in an August video where he says he dropped his “blood and sweat” in the city–most recently filming “Skyscraper” here.

But it’s not his bodily fluids that the City of Vancouver’s official proclamation of “The Rock Day” calls out, but rather his ability make a lot of “green” in our “Greenest City.”

The document also cites Johnson’s charitable work through The Rock Foundation, his time in Vancouver during his football career and his fanny pack.

CBC Vancouver takes a deeper dive into the whys of the timing of this declaration (it does suck that we have to wait until Oct. 19 of next year to justify taking the day off for “The Rock” movie marathon), and unearths that Robertson wanted to keep the big news a secret until Johnson showed up for a meeting scheduled much later in the day.

So while Vancouver can smell what The Rock is cookin’, we can also smell a stunt.
