  • The Cultch is showcasing a scandalous play from Linda Griffiths, The Dutchess — the fabulous, epic and true tale of Wallis Simpson, the notorious, convention-smashing American divorcee for whom Edward VIII gave up the throne. Featuring Diane Brown and nine of Vancouver’s finest actors playing 36 roles, take a trip with Simpson through her tumultuous life stopping for visits with historical figures such as Noel Coward, King George V, Hitler and Queen Mary. The play runs from April 7 to 18 at the Cultch, 1895 Venables St.

  • Italian Cultural Centre and Parallel 49 Brewery are partnering to present a one-night beer pairing dinner April 16 starting at 7 p.m. at 3075 Slocan Street at Il Centro’s Trattoria Hall. For $65, diners will be served an appetizer followed by a three-course menu including lamb sliders, shrimp salad, organic pork and blueberry gelato. Each dish is paired with a Parallel 49 brew.

March 28

  • It’s not too late to drop in for a same sex dance class tomorrow, March 28, at the Royal Canadian Legion, 2205 Commercial Drive. Three classes will run Saturday at a cost of $15 per class. The session starts from 10 to 11 a.m. with West Coast Swing for beginners taught by instructor Michel Guimond. The session is followed by international tango from 11 to noon. After international tango, prospective students will have the opportunity to learn Argentine tango from noon to 1 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to register.

  • The 411 Seniors Centre Society is hosting income tax clinics until April 30 from 9 a.m.  to 1:30 p.m. at 704-333 Terminal Ave. The clinics will service low income seniors or individuals collecting disability benefits with a simple tax solution. They will only do 2014 tax returns for free.

  • The Vancouver International Auto Show is on now through March 29 at the Vancouver Convention Centre West, 1055 Canada Place. Enter through the main doors on Jack Poole Plaza.  For the first time in the history of the Vancouver International Auto Show’s 95 years, five concept vehicles will be on display.
