UBC Costume Design Professor Jacqueline Firkins created 10 balls gowns uniquely inspired by photos of cancer cells in a Christian Naus’s UBC Science Lab. The 10 disease-inspired dresses were auctioned off at the Porsche Centre Vancouver, Sept. 23. Guests enjoyed an evening of art and music in support of Cancer prevention — in partnership with UBC, Western Living’s Design Week, the Canadian Cancer Society and Porsche Centre Vancouver. Hawksworth Restaurant catered the event, which included a special set by cancer survivor Bif Naked. In this video, Stephanie Florian speaks to the designer, emcee, and multiple guests, including Firkins and Global B.C.'s Sophie Lui, about their thoughts on Fashioning Cancer.
