Lord Byng harrier Max Trummer and Killarney’s Aran Rafie-Pour are on a best-of-five showdown.
The cross-country runners have exchanged wins at three public high school meets and have two more to go to crown an unofficial city champ — that is if no one outpaces them both to claim the spoils.
Rafie-Pour won the first race Sept. 26, beating Trummer by 45 seconds around the 7.6 kilometre course at Fraserview. The next time them met Oct. 3, again at Fraserview, Trummer kicked it up and out-stepped his rival by less than one second.
Both boys’ times were faster the second outing.
On Wednesday afternoon for a third meeting at Fraserview on a crisp, sun-soaked fall afternoon made for running, Trummer made it two-for-three when he beat Rafie-Pour a second time.
The next meeting is Oct. 16 and the regional zone meet is scheduled for Oct. 23. The top 20 regional racers advance to provincials Nov. 2 at Aldergrove Lake Provincial Park.
