The next edition of Cedar Park Church's Ovation Performance Series will feature the faculty of the Delta Community Music School.
Set for Saturday, March 10 at 7 p.m., the concert will include a delightfully varied program from classical chamber works to jazz and music theatre selections. Concert proceeds will support scholarships and bursaries for music students.
As director of the Delta Community Music School and the Delta Youth Orchestra, Stephen Robb, who is an accomplished clarinetist, saxophonist and pianist, strives to bring high quality instruction to Delta, with over 15 teachers comprising the faculty at the school.
Joining, Robb on stage for the upcoming concert will be singer Tracy Neff and violinist John Littlejohn from Infinitus String Trio.
Also scheduled to perform are Fred Chu (violin), Sarah Westwick (violin), Bo Peng (cello), John Walsh (bass), Christopher Robertson (trumpet), Kris Bowerman (trombone), Cheryl Carruthers (piano), Bernie Duerksen (piano) and Suzanne Klukas (piano).
The music school has grown to over 200 students enrolled in private and group instruction, including students enrolled in band programs at St. Bernadette's Catholic School (Surrey), Cloverdale Catholic Elementary and Diamond Elementary (Surrey).
The school offers private music lessons in flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, piano, voice, violin, viola, cello, choir, band, jazz ensemble, music theory and history. Some of the group programs offered include African Hand Drumming (with Bowerman), Jazz Ensemble (directed by Brad Muirhead), Music for Tots (with Westwick), Suzuki Violin and Triple Threat Theatre Classes (with Ruth Brown and Neff).
Over the past 25 years, the community has been enriched by numerous arts education programs, concerts and events presented by the school
