Cuban singer Daymé Arocena won the 2015 Juno Award for the best jazz album, as a member of the jazz band Maqueque performing with Canadian musician Jane Bunnett.

Vocalist Daymé Arocena shares the bill with pianist Roberto Fonseca at UBC’s Chan Centre on Sunday, April 15 at 7:30 p.m. Since the launch of her sophomore album Cubafonia (2017), Arocena has won praise from critics for her original fusion of jazz, rumba and Cuban neo-soul. In the evening’s second half Fonseca, who replaced Buena Vista Social Club’s pianist Rubén González, will perform works from his 2016 album, ABUC.
