Top 5 things to do this Saturday in Vancouver

April 25, 2015

Get dancing: Eclectic synth-folk duo Sylvan Esso (Amelia Meath of Mountain Man and Megafaun's Nick Sanborn) hit the Commodore tonight in support of their eponymous debut album.

Get in front of a TV: The Canucks return to Calgary for a do-or-die Game 6 down 3-2 to the Flames. Ryan Miller, who has stopped 35 of 36 Flames shots since taking over from Eddie Lack to start the second period of Game 4, will be between the pipes once again tonight. And hopefully next Monday as well. The puck drops at 6 p.m local time.

Get cheering: Can't bare to watch the possibility of another Canucks' post-season flame-out? The Whitecaps FC (5W-2L-1D) host Eastern Conference-leading D.C. United (3W-1L-2D) at BC Place tonight at 7:30 p.m. The match will also air live on TSN1.

Learn about the nature of things: Isabella Rossellini takes teaching about the birds and the bees to a whole new level with her live show Green Porno, based on her popular web series of the same name, in which the former Blue Velvet star acts out the mating behaviour of a variety on animals and insects tonight at the Vancouver Playhouse.

Get a free workout: The North Face is offering free one-hour workouts all day at Kits' Seaforth Peace Park led by trainers “who will take you through workouts aimed to prepare you to achieve your outdoor goal, whether it’s finishing an Endurance Challenge, becoming a stronger skier, or summiting a 14er.” They might even be able to recommend some North Face gear to go with it.
