Top 5 things to do this Thursday in Vancouver

March 26, 2015

Get cheering: The Vancouver Canucks hope to record their fourth straight win tonight at home when they face the Colorado Avalanche for the first time since Nov. 4. The teams have split their first two meetings of the season, both of which were played in Denver. Eddie Lack will get the start and the team will be wearing the maroon and white colours of the Vancouver Millionaires to mark the 100th anniversary of the only time a Vancouver team has ever won the Stanley Cup.

Get projecting: The old projection booth from the Fox Cabaret’s former days as a porn theatre has been thoroughly scrubbed down and remade as a new lounge room. The Fox is having its official launch tonight as both a neighbourhood bar and performance venue.

Ecoutez du nouvelle musique: Bobby Bazini, currently the biggest-selling Quebec-based musician who’s not a member of Arcade Fire, plays at the Media Club tonight in support of upcoming new album Where I Belong. Bellwoods open.

Get animated: The Rio Theatre hosts a double-bill of big-in-Japan animated films The Tale of the Princess Kaguya and Princess Mononoke.

Get elbowed: Langara’s renowned theatre department Studio 58 present Dave Deveau’s new play Elbow Room Café: The Musical (Phase 1) set in Vancouver’s infamous Elbow Room Café.
