Top 5 things to do this Tuesday in Vancouver

March 31, 2015

Get your geek on: The West Coast Geeks versus Nerds comedy troupe are moving their third season over to Gastown’s Portside Pub in what they are calling an attempt to reconnect with their Maritime heritage. Tonight’s showdown will try to settle the burning pop culture questions of who would be more fun to party with  -- worthy candidates Wayne and Garth from SNL or Jay and Silent Bob from the Kevin Smith universe -- and who are the best fictional  paranormal investigators: FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully or Supernatural’s Sam and Dean Winchester.

Get some novelty: Comediennes Sara Bynoe and Riel Hahn bring their crowd-pleasing “Novelty Act”  back to the Emerald tonight. Although they may have to rethink the name now that it is becoming more of a regular thing. Added bonus: half-price cocktails.

Get in front of a TV: The Canucks look for a second straight win after last night’s 4-1 drubbing of the St. Louis Blues as they continue their final road trip of the regular season tonight in Music City when they take on Shea Weber and the Central Division-leading Nashville Predators. The puck drops at 5 p.m.

Get read to: Bestselling Vancouver-based author John Vaillant (The Tiger, The Golden Spruce) appears at Banyen Books tonight to read from his first work of fiction, The Jaguar's Children, a survival story involving human smuggling on the Mexican border.

Get on up: Despite the lack of snow, the Grouse Grind remains closed but exercise enthusiasts looking to get their heart rates up can head on over to 147-metre-tall Harbour Centre today for Urban Grind between 4:30 and 6 p.m. The $5 admission includes a post-climb beer and a food court voucher.
