Top 5 things to do this Monday in Vancouver

March 9, 2015

Get fired up: Maidenesque Swedish metal band In Flames hit the Vogue Theatre tonight in support of new album Siren Charms. All That Remain and Wovenwear open.

See What You’re Missing: A new comedy by Vancouver-born, England-based playwright Tamara Micner premieres tonight at Norman and Annette Rothstein Theatre as part of the ongoing Chutzpah Festival. Directed by John Cooper, What You’re Missing explores about the trials and tribulations of two young Jews in love from very different backgrounds.

Catch a double-feature: The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society presents two films at Vancity Theatre focussing on the peril facing the Pacific Northwest’s salmon population. The Canadian premiere of Mark Titus’ The Breach is on at 6:30 p.m. followed by Scott Renyard’s The Pristine Coast and a Q&A session with some of the filmmakers and Union of B.C. Indian Chiefs VP Chief Bob Chamberlain.

Get cheering: The Canucks look to avenge a 4-0 beatdown Jan. 27 from the Anaheim Ducks in a rematch tonight at Rogers Arena. Eddie Lack gets the start, Chris Tanev returns from injury, and former Canucks star Ryan Kesler – who knocked Derek Dorsett out the game last time with an unpenalized elbow to the head -- will surely be hearing from the fans. The puck drops at 7 p.m.

Get rocking: April Wine have been together for nearly half a century now but apparently still like to rock (if not quite as hard as In Flames) and plan to do just that tonight at the River Rock.
