5 things to do on the North Shore this weekend

Students from Japan host cultural activities, Easter Bunny makes early appearance

Just in time for spring, come check out the latest and best of everything in home, garden, and outdoor living space wares at the North Vancouver Spring 2018 Home Expo at Karen Magnussen Arena. Attendees will be able to talk to local design experts and sample displays of products and services for home renovation. The event is running March 24, 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and March 25, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is free.

Participants ages two to 100 who have a penchant for chocolate and a love of Easter are invited to an Easter Bunny Hop event at John Braithwaite Community Centre March 25 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. The event will feature an Easter egg hunt, crafts, and storytime – and yes, you’ll be able to meet the Easter Bunny too. Registration is required.

Be swept away by the sounds of award-winning Portuguese singer and songwriter Antonio Zambujo, who is performing at the Kay Meek Theatre in West Vancouver March 25. Described as one of the most innovative fado singers working today, Zambujo’s music explores regional Portuguese music infused with Brazilian pop sounds. Tickets: $29-$38. You can't blend in when you were born to stand out. That’s the tagline propelling the film Wonder (2017), about young August “Auggie” Pullman, a boy born with facial differences that have prevented him from attending public school. The film’s showing March 24 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Capilano Library, part of the district library’s spring break movie marathon. Guests are invited to bring their own popcorn and treats to enjoy the “theatre” experience. Event is free.

Brockton School is playing host to a Japan Fair March 24 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. One-hundred and twenty high school students from Hayato School in Yokohama Japan have worked tirelessly to present the unique cultural day event, which will include activities such as calligraphy, a tea ceremony, kimono wearing, anime, marital arts demonstrations, traditional Japanese dance, and much more. This event is free and open to the public.
