Rose-coloured Class: While the ballroom was bathed in red roses, the dominant colour was green as $300,000 was raised at the 12th annual 65 Roses Gala. CBC's Gloria Macarenko and yours truly emceed the dinner and dance to celebrate advancements made to cystic fibrosis, the most common and fatal genetic disease in Canada, primarily affecting the lungs and digestive system of children and young adults. Jacki Bevis welcomed 400 guests to Pan Pacific Hotel's Crystal ballroom for the spectacular black-tie evening of philanthropy and fundraising.

Gourmet Gathering: The region's top chefs, foodies and oenophiles gathered for the 16th annual Cornucopia, Whistler's premier food and wine festival. Thousands made their way to the Olympic resort for the biggest event on the Sea-to-Sky social calendar. The Crush Gala Tasting, Araxi's Bubble + Oceans and Bearfoot Bistro's Italian Wine Dinner were all winners. Fairmont Chateau Whistler was party central as the hotel presented High Rollers, the festival's newest party.

Women Feted: As the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards enters its 30th year, alumnus from the past three decades gathered at the Westin Bayshore Hotel to celebrate the many years of fostering women's leadership and development. CEO & president Janet Austin hosted the reunion, a tribute of the one thousand nominees the awards has feted and a toast to the upcoming edition to be held May 28, 2013.

Chair Cynthia Roney kicked-off YWCA Women of Distinction Awards 30th anniversary by welcoming alumni including Vancouver food bank co-founder Joan Vincent who was feted at inaugural awards in 1982. Nominations open until mid January.
