While The Hobbit merely felt like being stuck in a movie theatre for 24 hours, Pacific Cinematheque’s 24 Hour Movie Marathon actually is 24 hours stuck in a movie theatre. Only instead of one self-indulgent Peter Jackson flick, it’s a whole whack of films, including a 16mm archival print of Buster Keaton’s 1924 movie Sherlock Jr, Francois Truffaut’s Day for Night, Robert Altman’s The Player, Christopher Guest’s For Your Consideration and a top secret lineup that won’t be revealed until the films hit the screen. Bring a blanket and a pillow. The marathon runs Feb. 16, 10 a.m. to Feb. 17, 10 a.m. Tickets $40. For more information, go to theCinematheque.ca.
Charmingly weird singer-songwriters Ben Sures, Bubba Uno and David P. Smith have teamed up as part of The Death Ballad Love Tellers Tour. Hear their rootsy eccentricities Feb. 19, 9 p.m. at the Railway Club. For more information, go to therailwayclub.com or call 604-681-1625.
