With the recent controversy/ debate over whether or not Ottawa has frozen funding for new aid projects in Haiti, Vancity Theatre’s screening of Michelle Mitchell’s documentary Haiti, Where Did the Money Go? couldn’t be more timely. Presented in collaboration with Haiti Solidarity B.C., with a panel discussion featuring the filmmaker, Haiti aid and solidarity workers, the provocative film screens Jan. 9, 6:30 p.m. More info at viff.org.
Local jazz singer Jaclyn Guillou has been on a roll as of late. Since receiving the CBC Galaxie Rising Star Award from the Vancouver International Jazz Festival in 2009, she’s been touring up a storm and recently released her debut album, To the City.
