After 20 years, The Number 14 makes its final stop, pulls into the station and other bus-related metaphors, one last time. The beloved homegrown theatre production filled with masks and every crazy character you’d encounter on pubic transit runs Oct. 25 to Nov. 18 at Granville Island’s Waterfront Theatre as part of its cross-Canada farewell tour. Call 1-877-840-0457 or to go ticketstonight.ca.
The ninth annual Heart of the City Festival celebrates the creative spirit that runs through the Downtown Eastside Oct. 24 to Nov. 4. With more than 80 events at over 25 venues, there’s something for everyone, including music, storytelling, poetry, cultural celebrations, film, theatre, dance, spoken word, forums, workshops, mixed media and history walks. For tickets and info, go to heartofthecityfestival.com.
Aszure Barton’s latest work Awáa: Project XII dances across the Norman Rothstein Theatre stage, Oct. 24 to 28. Much like the Courier’s editorial department, Project XII is described as “spellbinding, exciting, percussive, at times funny and sad, and hauntingly beautiful.” For tickets and more information, call 604-257-5111 or go to chutzpahfestival.com.
