As part of the Courier's Vancouver Special neighbourhood series, we pay a visit to Scalie Shoes in Kingsgate Mall. For the past 17 years, the quirky Mount Pleasant fixture has provided families, fashionistas and the city's fetish and exotic dancer community with fab footwear, high heels and tight calf muscles.

Defunct Vancouver band Magic Ass provides the video’s synth-driven soundtrack — a seven-minute opus called “Kingsgate Mall,” with shout-outs to Scalie Shows, Buy-Low Foods and other fine amenities.
