You, arts in social action at The Reach

The Reach Arts Action Heritage Projects engages community in the process of art as a vehicle for social change.

The 2012 AAH Project, sponsored partly by B.C. Arts Council, brings together youth 15-30 and adults 50-plus to learn about arts and social action. Then they get to make their own art.

The first component of the project relates to Bearing Witness, at The Reach from April 12 to June 10.

Author Marion Quednau and visual artist Linda Klippenstein will lead a tour of the exhibit and will then create "postcards from the edge," combining a short story or poem on one side and visual art on the other inspired by their own experiences.

The art pieces will be displayed in a virtual gallery online.

AAH Postcard sessions are offered throughout May.

Postcards will be exhibited at The Reach the first week of June, with an evening reception for artists on June 7.

The Reach is at 32388 Veterans Way, Abbotsford.
