The B.C. Liberal Party has changed the dates of its leadership convention to avoid a conflict with Super Bowl Sunday next year.

The party has announced that Christy Clark’s successor will be revealed on Saturday, Feb. 3, rather than the following day, when the National Football League holds its championship game.

Party president Sharon White noted in a letter to party members that some of them had recommended moving the dates to avoid conflict with the Super Bowl.

“In keeping with our B.C. Liberal values of respecting and responding to grassroots feedback, the party executive has agreed to adjust the dates of the leadership vote,” she said.

Voting will take place Feb. 1 to 3.

There are still no declared candidates for the job.
