Police received reports of shots being fired outside the Starbucks on Davie Street near Marinaside Crescent shortly after 11 a.m. according to the Vancouver Police Department.
When police arrived they found a man had been shot — not a woman as police initially reported. The man has been rushed to hospital and is in serious condition.
Police followed the man believed to be responsible for the shooting to Science World. There was an exchange of gunfire. The suspect and a police officer were injured. The unidentified officer is being treated in hospital for minor injuries. The alleged shooter remains in hospital in stable condition.
Police believe there are no suspects outstanding.
Science World has closed down for the rest of the day to allow for the police investigation.
Reporter Mike Howell and intern reporter Wanyee Li have headed to the scene. More information to come.

Sounds of coppers & choppers for last hour. 2 days 2 shootings 2 close 2 home. #Strathcona. Thankfully no kids caught in SciWorld crossfire

Thinking of all those dealing with the shooting in #yaletown + near ScienceWorld. Thoughts are with the officer hit + the victim.
