Plans for a massive three-day music festival at Stanley Park were unveiled Tuesday by the same company behind the now defunct Squamish Valley Music Festival.

Branded as “Skookum,” the event is being billed around “music that moves us, the food that delights us and the art that inspires us,” according to festival organizers with the Brandlive production agency.

Skookum is scheduled from Sept. 7 to 9 at the Brockton field complex in Stanley Park. The 17-acre site is expected to accommodate upwards of 20,000 attendees per day and feature multiple stages.

The full roster of acts will be confirmed this spring.

“This festival is the result of a conversation that began five years ago to create a more accessible and inclusive festival for Vancouver and British Columbia,” festival director Paul Runnals said in a news release. “We want to evolve the festival experience and establish a new standard for creative expression across the three pillars of music, food and art — all set in one of the most spectacular locations in the world. Skookum is the embodiment of this vision and we could not be more excited to share this announcement.”

Outside of the music, the festival will also include live and multimedia art installations, pop-up performances, a “sophisticated food and beverage program” and a handful of late-night events in the downtown core referred to as “Skookum After Dark.”

Brandlive was behind the six-year run of the Squamish Music Festival prior to its end last year. The agency has also organized multiple Grey Cup festivals, the Celebration of Light and various houses at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
