The Vancouver Courier is pleased to introduce Martha Perkins as the new editor-in-chief of the Vancouver Courier.

“Martha not only has an established record of producing award-winning newspapers,” says publisher Alvin Brouwer, “but she is passionate about journalism and the essential role that newspapers continue to play in our communities.”

Perkins has won more than 60 provincial and national writing awards during her tenure as editor of various publications in the Lower Mainland — the Westender, Bowen Island Undercurrent and North Shore Outlook — and four community newspapers in Ontario’s cottage country. In recognition of her commitment to story telling as a way of strengthening our sense of community, she was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Award and Rotary’s Paul Harris Fellow.

“I am deeply honoured to be joining the Courier’s team,” she says. “The Courier has such a proud history and, especially in this year of Canada’s 150th birthday, there’s so much to look forward to as we continue to reflect the aspirations, hopes and needs of this dynamic city.”
