RCMP officers are investigating a fatality at the Student Union Building near the student recreation centre, according to UBC public affairs. Few details are known at this point although the public is not at risk, according to public affairs.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Janelle Shoihet said the death is not considered suspicious and the investigation is being handed over the the B.C. Coroners Service. She said RCMP recieved a call reporting the fatality from campus security at 5:45 Thursday morning.
WorkSafeBC was also called in to investigate. Spokesperson Trish Knight Chernecki said the call came in at 7 a.m. and officers were dispacthed.
"We have yet to determine if it was work related," she said.
