Community hall's fate on agenda

The parks commission will consider this evening whether to agree to transfer Whonnock Lake Centre into its management. After 25 years of running it, the Whonnock Community Association asked Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows Parks and Leisure Commission in November if they would take over the operation and management of the hall.

Surrey's Emilia Kopcik helped Canada earn a pair of bronze medals in team competition at the Brazil Open synchronized swimming meet in Rio de Janeiro last weekend.

We attended the annual Pitt Meadows Day Parade and the festivities at Harris Road Park. We were impressed, and no doubt this year was the best ever! Kudos and hats off to the organizers, many volunteers, and all the participants.
