May 27 update:

Richard Darren Rondeau, who Vancouver police say is a high-risk sex-offender, was arrested at a residence early Saturday morning by the New Westminster Police Department.

Rondeau, 33, failed to return to his Vancouver halfway house on May 23.

He is currently serving a five-year-and-10-month sentence after being convicted of a number of offences related to sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl he met at a party in Winnipeg in 2011. Those offences include uttering threats causing death or bodily harm, overcome resistance by choke and assault, and forcible confinement.

According to a Winnepeg Free Press article from September 2011, Rondeau committed these offenses by taking the woman to three seperate secluded locations, one of which was an outbuilding he broke into in order to sexually assult her repeatedly. The victim was eventually able to call 9-1-1 and Vancouver Police request that anyone who sees Richard Darren Blondeau, or who has information about his whereabouts do the same, immediately.

He was assessed by Corrections Canada as a high-risk to re-offend.

Although Vancouver police say Rondeau was not found committing additional offences at the time of his arrest, VPD investigators will be trying to determine his actions over the past couple of days.
