Women rule some of world’s largest cities, though their numbers remain few

Although Vancouver has yet to elect a female mayor, a number of major cities around the world have bucked the trend.

According to research carried out between May and June 2017 by the City Mayors Foundation, an international research think tank dedicated to urban affairs, of the world’s largest 300 cities only 25 are governed by women. That number has dropped by a least two since first reported.
