The days of rich swag are long gone in journalism. In contrast to what some might think, reporters are not showered with free goodies from companies and publicists pushing products and events. (That's a good thing.)
Publicists, corporations and non-profits still send us stuff, mostly in the form of press kits and release packages. Most of it is useless bumph. Some of it is creative and some from worthy efforts. Put the two CIBC Run for the Cure t-shirts I received in the mail last week from the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in the latter two categories. The shirts are cute and draw attention to themselves for a good cause.
Full disclosure: the two shirts were distributed among Courier staff.
