Wise Circles can help our acceptance of age

Recently, I facilitated a WISE circle – men and women in conversation about the transition through age. This experience was particularly meaningful for me as confirmed by my tearful welcome. My passion was enlivened by individuals and couples who heard and spoke on a theme of: “how old I am is less significant than HOW I move through the present and upcoming years”.

Do you attempt to deny, avoid and pretend that as years increase, your age remains unchanged? All the best to you in this endeavor! OR would you consider that the physical, emotional, mental, interpersonal and spiritual signs of advancing age are meant as guides to accept and relate to change? How will you open to the possibility that the next years are your best years?

I feel blessed to have this opportunity in the WISE Circle to share what I have learned in my years as a counselling therapist, as an individual entering her 7th decade, and as a transition and transformation messenger of hope and resilience for the future. I am also humbled by the evident process that supports what I have lived to know as the most basic human and spiritual need: to connect, to belong, to have a place.

I have read, studied, understood and spoken of this need and have yearned for its presence for many of my early years. My well-developed intellect helped manage the pain of a heart and soul, broken and empty of healthy connection and belonging. What I have learned about healing and growth, I gladly share. How wonderful to be offered freedom of the spirit and choose how YOU want to live your present and your future years.

Will you accept the invitation to awaken to AHA moments? Could you be in awe of the realization that you are not alone? Will you welcome questions for the deep exploration on the inner, “interior” journey? What is intended for meaning and purpose invites creative conversation.  In the midst of the struggle, shame is transformed to a softened and useful message. The commonality and the uniqueness of observations and experiences are supported by an inclusive energy. As this energy, known by many names, is honored and respected, so is the safety, trust and dignity of all.

From the novelist, Marcel Proust: The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes. Yes, the landscape of the upcoming years includes the unpredictable, uncertain, the unknown. How WISE you are to open your eyes so what is revealed to you are more choice and possibility for your continued journey…
