Letters: Richmond cyclists, be respectful of pedestrians on sidewalks

A letter writer asks cyclists to dismount if they need to be on a sidewalk.

A Richmond News reader wonders why people don't use cycling infrastructure, rather they ride on the sidewalk.

Dear Editor,

Re: "More enforcement needed over new road bylaws: Richmond cyclist"

My letter is in regards to cyclists using the sidewalk on Granville Avenue when there are two wide cycle lanes on that street.

It's not enough that they choose the sidewalk but almost demand right-of-way.

I'm a cyclist and plan my route accordingly and you would never ever see me riding down a sidewalk and, if it happened that I had to use a sidewalk, I always dismount and walk around the pedestrian.

Please, cyclists, be respectful to pedestrians.
