Stick in Link: Bieksa returns; Canucks a bad franchise, says arbitrary list

It’s time for “Stick in Link”, the feature where we just plug in a bunch of stuff written by others! Featuring a smattering of links from around the Smylosphere and beyond every Tuesday and Thursday.

It’s time for “Stick in Link”, the feature where we just plug in a bunch of stuff written by others! Featuring a smattering of links from around the Smylosphere and beyond every Tuesday and Thursday. Warning: our links are so hyper, they change colour when exposed to heat. (Have something for us to share in the next edition? E-mail us at passittobulis@gmail.com or tweet us @passittobulis. Or tell us some other way. The point is: we'll probably link it if we know about it.)

  • Clay Imoo, the Smylosphere's king of parody songs and musical team tributes is back, with Marie Hui and Arielle Tuliao on vocals. It's a good time, as usual. The song this time around is a parody of Maroon 5's "Sugar". It's an improvement, because this version has replaced Adam Levine with two people I actually like. [Canucks Hockey Blog]
  • Alex Burrows talks about his shootout goal. At least I hope that's what he's talking about, because it all sounds vaguely dirty. "I tried to go a little bit higher. Sometimes it hits the stick and just trickles in. I don’t think goalies know you’re going there; that’s probably the only hole they’re giving up. They’re thinking you’re going post-and-in or something, but I tried to sneak it and shoot it as hard as I could. I’d like it to go cleaner than that." [Vancouver Sun]
  • Iain MacIntyre checks in with Kevin Bieksa, who was there to greet the Canucks in Anaheim. [Vancouver Sun]
  • He was also there to greet Dan Murphy, as Wyatt Arndt notes in his postgame piece. [Vancity Buzz]
  • Jason Botchford's Van Provies are a strong read, as usual. His last bullet point is most intriguing. People shrug about ownership news, but nothing changes a team more than a new billionaire running it, in my opinion. [The Province]
  • People really seem to like Ben Hutton. Here's another article about how good he is. [Last Word on Sports]
  • The GIF of Ryan Miller casually poking the puck away from Corey perry, then adopting a DON'T MESS WITH ME stance is my favourite GIF. [The Province]
  • Go back in time 20 years, to the Canucks' first game at Rogers Arena. As with pretty much all the big moments in Canucks history, we will be remembering a time that they lost. [Canucks Corner]
  • Because no one expected him to do much and then he got put with the Sedins, Brandon Sutter is big on the fantasy waiver wires. [NHL]
  • We really only talk about the Canucks here, because we're shamefully biased, so here's the view from the Anaheim side of Monday night's game. [Anaheim Calling]
  • According to ESPN, the Canucks are the second-worst NHL franchise. This isn't based on anything substantial, of course. It's the result of a sports network that barely cares about hockey putting together a random methodology for ranking sports teams -- one designed to get clicks. So we'll imagine that having an easily angered fanbase sends you straight to the bottom of the list. That might explain why the Leafs are last. So at least we beat the Leafs! [ESPN]
