Stick in Link: It’s time for Stecher Mania!

Also, the return of Marc Crawford; Nikita Tryamkin won't play in the AHL; fatigue a concern for Canucks.
Stick in Link

It’s time for “Stick in Link”, the feature where we just plug in a bunch of stuff written by others! Featuring a smattering of links from around the Smylosphere and beyond every Tuesday and Thursday. Warning: our links are so hyper, they change colour when exposed to heat. (Have something for us to share in the next edition? E-mail us at passittobulis@gmail.com or tweet us @passittobulis. Or tell us some other way. The point is: we'll probably link it if we know about it.)

  • For the first time in a long time, Marc Crawford returns to Vancouver as an NHL coach. Crawford is now an associate coach with the Ottawa Senators, but still sees Vancouver as his second home and still has a house in North Van. [Ottawa Citizen]
  • But who cares about Crawford? It’s time for Stecher Mania! In light of injuries to Alex Burrows, Derek Dorsett, and Chris Tanev, the Canucks have called up Troy Stecher. And also Jayson Megna, but who cares, because STECHER!!!! [Canucks Army]
  • Stecher isn’t just getting called up to spend time in the press box. He’ll be playing his first NHL game against the Senators on the top pairing with Alex Edler. GET HYPE!!!! [Pro Hockey Talk
  • That means no Tanev in the lineup against the Senators, which is kind of killing my Stecher buzz, but he’s apparently just day-to-day. No need to flip the pool just yet. [Vancouver Sun
  • It was confirmed on saturday that Nikita Tryamkin has outright refused to play in the AHL, even for a conditioning stint. The big Russian defencemen is left stuck in the press box as he says he will exercise his out-clause and bolt back to Russia if he is sent down. [The Province]
  • J.D. Burke thinks that it might be best for both Tryamkin and the Canucks if he does go back to Russia, getting some playing time in the KHL with a possibility of coming back to the NHL in the future. Personally, I’m of the mind that since they have him here, they need to sink their hooks in and keep him in on this continent for as long as possible. [Canucks Army
  • Love this video of Henrik Sedin mic'd up against the Flames, explaining things like the "Luu" chant to Loui Eriksson in Swedish, and predicting Brandon Sutter's game-winning shootout goal: "He will for sure. He's going to score."
  • No one was very good against the Ducks, but Alex Edler was double-plus-ungood. Wyatt Arndt does the unthinkable and even compares him to *gasp* a Tortorella-coached Alex Edler. Wyatt, how could you? [The Province
  • The Sedins and Loui Eriksson haven’t been lighting up the scoresheet like fans had hoped and Sven Baertschi doesn’t seem to be the answer either. While Willie Desjardins could reunite Jannik Hansen with the twins, that would entail breaking up the Canucks’ most effective line. So, what about Anton Rodin? [The Canuck Way]
  • Here's what: unfortunately, from the sounds of things Anton Rodin might be out for quite a while. He’s still rehabbing his knee and it may not be a short-term fix. [Hockey Buzz
  • Jeff Paterson is concerned about how fatigue has already played a factor early in the season. He's not wrong. If the Canucks are going to be playing in hard-fought, one-goal games all season long, they’re going to be playing tired most nights and if their performance against the Ducks is how they play when they’re tired, the Canucks are in real trouble.
