Stick in Link: Sedins are cool dads; playoffs a long shot

Plus: a smattering of celebrity tabloid gossip
Stick in Link

It’s time for “Stick in Link”, the feature where we just plug in a bunch of stuff written by others! Featuring a smattering of links from around the Smylosphere and beyond every Tuesday and Thursday. Warning: our links are so hyper, they change colour when exposed to heat. (Have something for us to share in the next edition? E-mail us at passittobulis@gmail.com or tweet us @passittobulis. Or tell us some other way. The point is: we'll probably link it if we know about it.)

  • Jeff Paterson examines the Canucks at the 50-game mark, and really brings the mood down. "Right now with 51 points in 50 games, the Canucks are on pace to finish with 84 points. With San Jose (8-0-2) and Anaheim (7-3) heating up in their past 10 games and pushing the LA Kings in the Pacific, the Canucks are likely going to need 40 points from their final 32 games to make the playoffs. I just don't see that happening." Uncool, Paterson. [Jeff Paterson]
  • Granted, Paterson's not wrong. The Canucks have about a 25% chance of making the playoffs, according to math. But math can go to Hell as far as I'm concerned. Hashtag believe. [The Province]
  • But before you label the Canucks sellers, or before they admit that they are (and always have been), there's a February home stand that could change everything. [Vancouver Sun]
  • Granted, in order to make some noise down the stretch, the Canucks would need big things from their kids, since the youth movement is in full swing at this point. [Hockey's Future]
  • Ben Kuzma on the Sedins, who are incredible mentors, according to Jared McCann. “A lot of my buddies are playing in the NHL right now as 19-year-olds and they’re kind of on their own. We don’t have that in this room. Daniel definitely makes this happen for us,” he said. That's right, y'all. Jared McCann basically has two cool dads and all his friends are jealous. [The Province]
  • We're not the only ones saying it: If not for John Scott hogging all the attention, Daniel Sedin would have been a deserving All-Star Game MVP. [The Canuck Way]
  • Not long after J.D. Burke suggested the Canucks were stupid for not trading for Jonathan Drouin, Ryan Biech says they'd be stupid if they did. Get your house in order, Canucks Army. Or at least make these two settle things in a barn fight. [Canucks Army]
  • Apparently Pavel Bure is one of hockey's forgotten heroes. I doubt that. But I don't mind another article celebrating his talent, and I'll bet you won't either. [Today's Slapshot]
  • Michael Traikos on Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider, neither of whom play for the Canucks anymore. But they were both All-Stars, if that makes you feel any better. Oh, it doesn't? Oh. [Vancouver Sun]
  • Forget about who the Canucks should trade for a second. Here's who they should trade for. [Always 90 Four]
  • No way are we blogging about this, but the Canucks subreddit is convinced Jake Virtanen is dating Chloe Grace Moretz, and the evidence-gathering is pretty hilarious. So if you like amateur sleuthing, and you care about whether or not two teenagers are smooching and stuff, this is totally the thread for you. [Reddit]
  • Finally, if you're looking to start blogging about the Canucks, these guys are searching for contributors. [The Canuck Way]
