A free public debate on Wednesday aims to address the need to increase “missing middle” housing supply, such as townhomes and larger condos, without alienating local residents with pervasive lot assembly.

The evening panel event, Smart City Debate #11: Building Missing Middle Housing Without Lot Assemby, is being held March 28 at UBC Robson Square in downtown Vancouver from 6.30-8.30pm. It is part of a series of Smart City Debate events run by Urbanarium, a Vancouver non-profit group set up to create public discourse on urban issues.

Panellists discussing the topic are:

• Patrick Condon, UBC urban design chair;

• Scot Hein, architect and UBC’s urban designer;

• Chuck Brook, Brook Development Planning; and

• Anne McMullin, president and CEO of the Urban Development Institute, Pacific Region.

The panel discussion will be followed by an open Q&A.

The event is free to attend, although donations to help similar events in future are encouraged.
