Richmond RCMP are seeking the public’s help to identify a suspect in an alleged pub assault that took place during the Stanley Cup finals.
On June 7, Mounties were called to a pub, understood to be the Pioneer's Pub, on No. 3 Road near Williams Road. In the heat of the Stanley Cup final’s game five excitement, reports said an altercation took place between some of the pub’s patrons. Allegedly, a 57-year old Richmond man was hit with a chair by one suspect and hit in the face by a second.
While the RCMP arrested the first suspect, Richmondite Alistair Charles Newman, 62, who was accused of assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon, the second suspect fled.
“Although one suspect was arrested and charged, a second suspect is outstanding. The Richmond RCMP have exhausted our investigational avenues and would appreciate any assistance in identifying and locating him,” said Cpl. Dennis Hwang in an emailed statement.
“The suspect is believed to be a regular at this pub. By releasing these security stills, we are hope someone will recognize him.”
RCMP are describing this second suspect as a Caucasian male, bald or balding, heavy set build and wearing a green T-shirt, black windbreaker and jeans at the time of the incident.
