Western Canada's largest professional tennis tournament, the Odlum Brown VanOpen, is boosting the women's prize money by $25,000 for this year's event, bringing the total in line with the men's tournament.
Both the men's and women's draws now offer $100,000 purses making the Odlum Brown VanOpen a $200,000 tournament and the largest Challenger event on the USTA Pro Circuit. The annual summer event, running June 30 to Aug. 7 at West Vancouver's Hollyburn Country Club, is also Western Canada's largest professional tennis tournament.
Hollyburn renewed its agreement with organizers to continue as the host facility for the tennis tournament for the next three years. They have been the host site for the Odlum Brown VanOpen since 2005 and this year marks the 10th year it's been held in Vancouver.
"Hollyburn Country Club is very excited to host the Odlum Brown VanOpen through 2013 and to see stars like Rebecca Marino and Milos Raonic," says Ed McLaughlin, CEO of Hollyburn Country Club.
