The BMO Vancouver Marathon has made another don’t-miss-this list.

Canadian Running Magazine named the city’s only marathon one of “Canada’s Gold Label Races,” putting it among eight others as a “perfect destination race vacation.”

Published in the December “Destination Issue,” the list written by Jay Smith names favourite races of different lengths that are events “worth travelling to on [their] own” along with recommendations for other running routes and places to eat.

The feature identifies the Vancouver marathon as one of the best “anywhere in the world” because it’s “famous for its beautiful course.”

“The half and the marathon take in the most spectacular of Vancouver’s running routes — through UBC campus, Point Grey and, perhaps the most stunning final 10K of any marathon, along Stanley Park’s Seawall.”

This accolade is just the latest for the Vancouver Marathon. Two years ago, Forbes named it one of 10 marathons worth travelling for. Also on the list were marathons in the Napa Valley, Paris, Big Sur in California, Limpopo, South Africa, and on the Great Wall of China.

CNN chose the BMO Vancouver Marathon for its run-of-the-month list of “exotic” destinations in 2013.

USA Today picked the Vancouver race as one of 14 spring races all runners should try.

This year’s Vancouver marathon attracted runners from over 50 countries.

The 45th annual BMO Vancouver Marathon is on May 1, 2016. In addition to the 42.2-kilometre event, there is a two-, three-, or four-person marathon relay, a half-marathon, and an eight-km race as well as a 2.5-km walk and a kids event.
