STRATFORD HALL 15 - 9 POINT GREY

The sharp-edged Sabres from Stratford Hall dispatched the Point Grey Ghosts to win the B.C. junior ultimate championship, the first provincial title in their school’s history.

Khalid Alibhai and Daniel McGuire came on strong for the Sabres in the final, played at UBC on May 25.  Stratford Hall took a 7-3 lead before Point Grey went on a scoring streak to tie the final at eight points apiece.

The Sabres coach Chris Brogan called a time out and settled the team and Stratford Hall came off the break to score two quick points. Sophie Lesjak and Kiera Lee Pii make clutch contributions for the win.

Point Grey, who’d come of a gruelling overtime semifinal win against Kwantlen Park, managed to put up only one more point before the Sabres won 15-9.

Stratford Hall defeated Prince of Wales 12-8 in the quarter final and then eliminated St. George’s / York House 12-9 to reach the championship final.
