Vancouver cyclists win bronze at Rio Olympics

Jasmin Glaesser and Georgia Simmerling help Canada’s team pursuit cycling squad to third-place finish

The women keep getting it done for Canada at the Rio Olympics.

A pair of Vancouverites added to that narrative Saturday, as Jasmin Glaesser and Georgia Simmerling helped secure a bronze medal in team pursuit cycling alongside teammates Allison Beveridge and Kirsti Lay.

The team completed the four-kilometre race in a time of 4:16.629, and was bested only by Great Britain and the U.S., who won gold and silver respectively.

Glasser, 24, also won bronze in the same event during the 2012 games.

Meanwhile, Simmerling became the first Canadian ever to compete in three separate sports at the Olympics.
