Staying and playing at Whistler Blackcomb: not just for snow bunnies

If you think that all the Whistler and Blackcomb mountains have to offer is snow, you need to get out more – preferably north along the Sea to Sky Highway.

"We're a four season destination resort these days," says Kevin Small, Marketing Manager for Resort Reservations Whistler, the one-stop booking place for Whistler Blackcomb. "In addition, we attract people from all over the world, not just for skiing or biking or hiking or any number of outdoor recreation pursuits, but for relaxing spa treatments and some serious retail therapy at the Village's more than 200 stores."

While locals from the Lower Mainland and surrounding areas have enjoyed day trips to Whistler Blackcomb for skiing or hiking, the Resort has captured a portion of the staycation market.

"It used to be that you could decide on a Wednesday to come that Friday or Saturday," Kevin says. "But as the Resort’s popularity grows, that's getting harder to do. Consider coming up midweek and make Tuesday/Wednesday the new Friday/Saturday. You can find some good deals if you look at last minute packages or off-peak and shoulder season times."

While we all enjoy a mini-break now and then, Kevin has been seeing more people stay at the Resort for a full-fledged vacation to really experience all the mountains have to offer. “You would be surprised by how many activities you can pack into a week in Whistler,” Kevin says.

"With the Canadian dollar being so low against the U.S. and other currencies, and the relative ease with which people can travel to visit us, Whistler Blackcomb is looking attractive as a vacation destination for people in the Lower Mainland."

Staying longer in Whistler could also save you money.

"Hotels generally offer a better price the longer you stay," Kevin explains. "In addition, at Resort Reservations Whistler, we put together packages of lodging, lift tickets, activities and events to save you even more money."

Bring the whole family and enjoy the many multi-generational activities happening at the Whistler Blackcomb Resort.

"We're North America's #1 Resort," Kevin says. "And we're less than two hours away."
