Don't be quick to store your winter colors away for spring. Judging from the looks coming down the runway for spring/summer 2013 black and red are designers' colors of choice.

Designers are choosing to substitute lighter fabric choices for the overly clich‚ look of summer with pastels and neon. Deeper shades of color that still appear bold are on trend for the summer.

Local designer Rozemarie Cuevas' mix of cosmopolitan urbanity embodies a sophisticated, glamorous and feminine flare. The pieces were definitely versatile and easy to wear and integrate into any woman's wardrobe. There were tailored pieces such as cropped blazers and knee length pencil skirts, which can take you from day to night.

The collection was tailored to show off the curves of a woman. Fabric choices for the collection included tweed and chiffon. The ready to wear collection has a fun and carefree element to the movement and flow of the designs. The tailored pieces had a feel of designer Diane Von Furstenburg's uptown sophistication while the jumper and long skirt mirrored a bohemian theme. The dresses can be belted and accessorized for a more tailored look and comfort appears to be the biggest selling point for me on this collection.

As for highlights of the night? The white chiffon blouse, black pencil skirt with a red trim is just as sophisticated as the red dress, which was the crowd favourite. For a more relaxed look, the brown chiffon top with the dark blue long skirt is my favorite.

Personally, I favour black and white tones and I'm elated that they can continue to work their way into my spring/summer wardrobe this year without the stares equivalent to wearing white after labour day.

The color palette for this outfit is perfect for a fall to spring transition.
Light fabric like chiffon is great for movement and versatility during spring/summer. Texture blocking on clothing is also on trend with the leather accents.
Tweed is in and all over the runway for spring/summer. This black jacket is so versatile. Paired with a lighter tone skirt to finish.
The black, white and red gives such a clean overall look that is timeless. The top can also be transformed into different looks depending whether you want to bow it up or leave it draped.
This jumper paired with a throw over sweater represents Vancouver versatility and style with a casual but chic look.
I like the simplicity of this dress because the cut of the neckline makes this dress pop. Accessorize or synch the waist with a belt for a tailored look.
