Vancouver's Dinner by Design Thrice as Nice

Design and hospitality communities join forces in artful competition for charity

Monogram Dinner by Design, sponsored by GE, is a series of three fundraising dinners and cocktail parties hosted by well-known interior designers and members of the design community for the benefit of a local charity. Originally launched in Ontario, the series is making its way across Canada and is debuting on Sept. 16-17.

The Social Concierge will produce Vancouver's first Monogram Dinner by Design, in partnership with Interior Design Show West (IDSwest) to benefit the Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation.

"Monogram Dinner by Design aims to redefine the traditional fundraising cocktail dinner party, elevating the sensorial experience at the same time as hosting well-known interior designers, and members of the design community," said Tyson Villeneuve co-producer along with Jordan Kallman, of The Social Concierge. "This will be a unique and utterly exclusive social experience, all in the name of a good cause!"

Each year Monogram Dinner by Design will return to Vancouver in partnership with IDSwest to raise money for the Dr. Peter Center as well as elevating the art of spatial design to new heights. Ten unique and creative tablescapes being designed by 10 marquee talents – including Kelly Deck of Kelly Deck Design; David Nicolay of Evoke; Amanda Forrest of Amanda Forrest Design; and Craig Stanghetta of St. Marie, among six others.

With 24 hours to set up their inspired creations, design teams are solely responsible for the costs incurred in creating their dining spaces. Design space will vary from 121 to 220 square feet, with each table seating ten for dinner. To ensure that no two tables are similar, participating designers are required to submit sketches and renderings a minimum of four weeks prior to installation. Dining installations should prove to be stylish, over-the-top and cutting edge.

Villeneuve says guests will experience fabulous concepts, dine on exquisite food, and access superb design and product information. “Monogram Dinner by Design aims to redefine the traditional fundraising cocktail dinner party, elevating the sensorial experience at the same time as hosting well-known interior designers, decorators, and members of the design community,” he says.

Fundraising initiatives will include the presence of a Tiffany & Co. brooch estimated at $23,296, to be raffled off at the gala in support of Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation. The public are invited to come out and support a very worthy local cause. Bon appétit!
