The COVID-19 outbreak at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital is over 10 days after it was declared.
“There are no longer any COVID-19 cases related to this outbreak at the site,” Island Health said Saturday.
The health authority credits its “comprehensive strategies to prevent and respond to COVID-19 in acute sites.”
Island Health declared an outbreak on Nov. 11 after five staff cases were identified. Four of the cases were in the transitions unit, and one was elsewhere in the hospital.
No patients tested positive.
Cleaning and oversight and testing were enhanced as a result, and no further staff have tested positive.
The transitions unit at Nanaimo’s hospital has now reopened to admissions and transfers.
