B.C. Ferries is resuming service on its Departure Bay-Horseshoe Bay run on Wednesday, June 3 with four round trips daily.
The route between Nanaimo and West Vancouver will operate at 50% passenger capacity, as required by Transport Canada and the province of B.C. to help combat the spread of COVID-19. Ferries have not been running on this route since March.
“In order to support coastal B.C. and respond to the need of British Columbians, we are gradually and safely restoring our service,” Mark Collins, president and chief executive of B.C. Ferries, said in a statement.
“Demand has increased such that resuming service on the Departure Bay-Horseshoe Bay route better serves the needs of customers.”
B.C. Ferries urges customers to make reservations to ensure they will be able to board the ferry and to arrive at least an hour before sailing times.
Starting June 3, ferries will leave Nanaimo’s Departure Bay daily at 10:30 a.m., 12:50 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:50 p.m.
Passengers are allowed to stay in their vehicles during the trip.
Bookings that were already made on that route for travel between June 3 and July 1 will be cancelled and reservations refunded because sailings times are different, the company said. Affected customers will be contacted directly by B.C. Ferries.
